Duration

12 Hours

Description

Enjoy the stunning land and seascape on this drive down to Key West, and learn interesting stories as we pass along the way. The "Overseas Highway" was a series of bridges that connected 43 islands with 42 bridges, with amazing views of the Gulf of Mexico on one side, and the Atlantic Ocean on the other. We'll keep an eye out for the endangered "Key Deer", a very small species of Whitetail deer that have adapted to the Keys. We'll also cross the "Seven-Mile Bridge"! Once we arrive in Key West, we'll stop at the "Southernmost Point in the USA", a marker for some great photos. Then we explore the island by car, to the beachfront, Mallory Square, and the quaint shotgun houses made from the wood of shipwrecks. Enjoy a stroll along Duvall Street to Mallory Square. This was where salvaged goods from shipwrecks were brought to auction. Today, these buildings are shops, bars, cafes, art galleries, museums, and many more delightful places to visit. Select from many attractions to visit, such as the Hemingway House, the Shipwreck Museum, the Mel Fisher Museum or the Truman White House. If time permits, watch the beautiful sunset! On the way back, you may want to stop and try the best key lime pie in the Keys!
