Discover Local History in Palm Beach

This tour explores the historic contribution made by Henry Morrison Flagler. He is credited with establishing tourism and agriculture as the foundation of Florida’s economy.

Hear about Flagler’s life as we drive to Whitehall, the house he built for his wife, Mary Lily Kenan-Flagler. It has been proclaimed by the New York Herald as “more wonderful than any palace in Europe, grander and more magnificent than any other private dwelling in the world.”

Today, the house is known as the Flagler Museum. You can choose the optional audio tour and explore the upstairs and downstairs of the estate and stroll the beautiful grounds. You can even step inside Flagler’s personal railroad car!

Once we’re done at the Flagler Museum, you are guided through the famous Breakers Hotel. Originally the site of Flagler’s Palm Beach Inn, the overflow hotel was often requested so guests could watch the breakers of the ocean. After two major fires, the hotel was rebuilt with fireproof concrete and opened in 1926.

While on the property, you may select to visit the oceanfront Seafood Bar, located inside the hotel. It has been refurbished to resemble the interior of a large super-yacht!  The bartop is clear to reveal the aquarium built within it, and the huge windows allow a spectacular view of the ocean as gulls and pelicans patrol outside.

After your lunch, you can use what time is left for a stroll along Worth Avenue!
